From cuts to riches

Lancashire is to get £1million of funding to boost existing services and restore routes that had previously been cut.

The news is a victory for Sabden’s Save our Service campaign group and follows extensive consultation work by Bus Users England to encourage residents and Lancashire County Council to recognise the vital importance of bus services.

Key priorities for the funding, which will increase the total budget for buses to £3million, are to restore lost links between communities, particularly in rural areas, increase the frequency of services on routes where there is more demand, and stabilise the network to support routes which might otherwise disappear.
