Bus Users backs new brochure calling for bus priority measures

Bus Users backs new brochure calling for bus priority measures

A dynamic new brochure that sets out the case for bus priority measures has been launched by CPT, pteg, TfL, Greener Journeys and CBT.

The brochure has been designed as a lobbying tool to convince local decision makers of the need for well-planned, properly enforced bus priority measures such as bus lanes, bus gateways and the right of way at junctions. According to the organisations behind the report, effective bus priority measures create more reliable, punctual services that offer a genuine alternative to the car. Jonathan Bray, Director of ptg said: “This new brochure shows that well planned bus priority schemes are about far more than just speeding up buses. They are also about easing congestion for all road users, revitalising high streets, and improving the ability of bus services to get people into work and education.”

Welcoming publication of the brochure, Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users said: “Bus services are vital and make a hugely underestimated contribution to people, to communities and to the wider economy. This brochure clearly demonstrates the impact improved bus services could have on all our lives and will make a great addition to our own campaign for bus priority measures."
