App on board

With congestion at an all-time high and UK drivers spending an average of 32 hours a year stuck in traffic (see Running to stand still), First Bus decided to launch a new app to get people out of their cars and onto the bus. In a poll conducted by the bus company, 53% of commuters had been unable to identify their nearest bus stop to get them to work, and one third didn’t know which stop would get them to their nearest town centre.

In response, their new app can help with door-to-door journey planning including bus, rail, tram and walking. It provides walking directions to bus stops, real-time bus stop information updates and journey progression on google maps.
